Job Overview
O’Brien Tax Service seeking a full-time, in-office Tax Preparer to join our Framingham location. We are looking for a detail-oriented and professional individual who can manage a wide range of tax situations while delivering excellent client service. Our business is mostly seasonal work but if this is a good fit, this position could potentially be year-round employment.
Description:
Responsible for preparing and reviewing various business and individual tax returns (1040, 1120, 1065, etc.) and ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Requirements:
- 2+ years tax preparation experience required
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
- Knowledge of IRS and Massachusetts Department of Revenue tax code
- Ability to prepare individual, business, trust, and estate tax returns
- Ability to advise clients on diverse tax matters
- Must work on-site in Framingham (no remote option)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
- Enrolled Agent (EA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation (preferred)
- Knowledge of corporate and foreign tax returns and regulation
Responsibilities:
- Client appointments in office and over the phone
- Follow up with clients regarding missing or additional documentation
- Prepare accurate and compliant federal and state tax returns
- Maintain organized and secure client files
- Provide general tax guidance throughout the filing process
Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Strong email communication and phone etiquette
- Effective time management and ability to prioritize tasks
- High attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability
- Familiarity with office management systems and procedures
- Ability to operate office equipment (fax, copier, scanner, etc.)
- Basic mathematical skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a small team
