Location: Deerfield, MA
Compensation: $29/hr - $32/hr
Position Summary
The Buyer is responsible for procuring materials, components, and supplies necessary to support production requirements and business operations. Working under general supervision, this role manages purchasing activities, coordinates with vendors, monitors inventory levels through the ERP system, expedites deliveries, and assists with supplier negotiations. The Buyer ensures timely material availability while maintaining compliance with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPurchasing & Supplier Management
- Initiate purchase orders for materials, supplies, and services based on approved requisitions, ERP-generated requirements, and management directives.
- Maintain and administer ERP system data for vendors, products, and purchasing records.
- Place orders with suppliers and monitor order status to ensure timely delivery.
- Expedite orders and resolve supply chain issues to support production schedules and operational requirements.
- Coordinate shipments with vendors to ensure monthly production goals are achieved.
- Assist with supplier negotiations and contract-related activities as needed.
Inventory & Financial Reconciliation
- Monitor inventory levels and support inventory management activities.
- Reconcile inventory records and vendor invoices to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory data within the ERP system.
Sourcing & Analysis
- Prepare and issue Requests for Quotations (RFQs) to suppliers.
- Analyze supplier quotations and provide recommendations for management review.
- Evaluate pricing, lead times, and supplier performance to support cost-effective purchasing decisions.
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure purchasing activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, company policies, and ethical standards.
- Maintain adherence to ISO standards and all applicable compliance requirements.
- Support ITAR and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) compliance requirements.
- Follow all company quality, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Additional Responsibilities
- Follow company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and applicable employment agreements.
- Comply with all workplace safety requirements and guidelines.
- Provide support to other buyers and departments as needed.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in an office, purchasing, administrative, or related business environment.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including professional phone etiquette.
- General knowledge of accounting principles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and capable of making sound decisions with minimal supervision.
- Must be eligible to access information controlled under International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or materials management.
- Experience working with ERP systems.
- Knowledge of supplier negotiations and contract administration.

Work Environment & Schedule
- Position is based in Deerfield, Massachusetts.
- Ability to interact professionally and effectively with employees, suppliers, and stakeholders at all levels.
- Must be able to complete assignments within established timelines.
- Flexibility to work overtime, including evenings and weekends, as business needs require, with or without advance notice.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers to perform routine office and facility tasks.
- Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or similar physical activities within facility areas.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 20 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work in both office and manufacturing/facility environments as required.
