We are looking for a Controls Engineer to join our team in Wilmington, MA.
This position focuses on the design, programming, and implementation of automation systems in manufacturing and process environments. You will work with PLCs, DCS platforms, and HMI/SCADA systems, develop databases, prepare documentation, and support commissioning activities on-site.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop control system architecture, select components, and produce schematics/documentation.
- Program DCS platforms with Emerson DeltaV (required), along with PLCs and HMI/SCADA systems.
- Configure and maintain databases for real-time and historical process data.
- Provide start-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting support at client facilities.
- Work with multiple programming environments: Ladder Logic, Sequential Function Charts, Structured Text; experience with VBA, .NET, and SQL is a plus.
- Design and support networks using industrial protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, and Profibus.
- Contribute independently or as part of a team, with opportunities to lead projects and mentor junior engineers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Controls, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science.
- At least 5 years of experience in controls engineering.
- Hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV is required.
- Strong knowledge of Rockwell PLC platforms; additional exposure to Ignition, FactoryTalk, or other HMI/SCADA tools is beneficial.
- Background in instrumentation, electrical schematics, and NEC standards (including <480VAC power distribution).
- Familiarity with HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, OPC.
- Knowledge of S88 batch standards and regulated industry requirements (cGMP, 21 CFR Part 11, GAMP5).
- SQL database knowledge.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and client-facing skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%.
