Overview:

A private social club with upscale dining, event space, private gym, co-workspace, and networking opportunities to create a community of impact seeks an Assistant Director of Membership to drive membership growth by developing and executing strategic recruitment initiatives and to develop and support the Sales and Marketing team. This role focuses on expanding the membership base through targeted recruitment strategies and optimizing engagement with both prospects and current members throughout the pipeline.


A key objective is to create a vibrant, inclusive, and engaged community that enhances the overall membership experience and fosters long-term satisfaction and retention.


The Assistant Director will utilize both traditional and innovative techniques to build a strong prospect pipeline, ensuring that new members align with the club’s mission and values. Additionally, the Assistant Director will serve as a role model, elevating membership processes and enhancing the member experience by ensuring best practices are followed at all touch points. The ultimate goal is to grow and sustain a diverse, dynamic membership base that contributes to the club’s success, positioning it as a thriving community hub.


This role reports to the Director of Membership


Key Responsibilities:


Membership Recruitment & Community Development:

  • Develop and execute membership recruitment strategies to increase the organization’s membership base.
  • Lead community development initiatives that foster member engagement and build a strong, active community.
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to promote membership benefits, create compelling recruitment materials and campaigns, and attract new members.
  • Actively prospect new members in the Greater Boston Area and beyond, focusing on both resident and non-resident categories.
  • Evaluate and approve nominations, optimize the nomination process, and manage the pipeline with regular reporting on engagement and conversion rates.
  • Host and attend recruitment events both in-house and externally to recruit new members, and participate in prospective member interviews to ensure a high standard of club membership.
  • Manage the Supernominator Program, recruitment cold calls, waitlist management, and the membership onboarding process to ensure a positive experience for new members.
  • Flag prospective members for application review, interview priority, and cohort assignments.
  • Manage cohort assignments and organize new member welcome receptions and member mixers.


Data Analytics & Insights:


  • Develop strong knowledge of the NorthStar & Peoplevine databases, utilizing them for key reporting metrics and insights.
  • Analyze membership trends and feedback to refine recruitment efforts.
  • Prepare recruitment reports on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis, focusing on pipeline engagement and overall recruitment processes.


Event Participation & Representation:

  • Attend and work at membership events, including member mixers, recruitment events, and new member welcome receptions.
  • Serve as an ambassador at events, ensuring a memorable experience for members and guests.


Selection Committee & Decision Follow-up:

  • Propose new cohorts to the selection committee for approval.
  • Follow up on ACNP decisions, including handling denials and managing nominee microsite/website/app onboard processes.


Special Projects & Strategic Alliances:

  • Support the Senior Director of Membership in special projects related to market research, competitive analysis, and community engagement.
  • Establish a presence for the club in the local community, building strategic alliances as necessary.
  • Take the lead on training and development of the sales and marketing team.


Glitch Management:

  • Manage and oversee the "Glitch" module, including conducting follow-ups and reporting glitches for resolution.


Campaigns & Pipeline Communication:

  • Oversee and manage the Campaigns module, ensuring effective communication with prospective members through emails, announcements, and notices.

  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and experience with CRM platforms is a plus.
  • Execution: Results-driven with a focus on both details and the big picture.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel.


Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in hospitality or hotel management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Must have client facing experience in hospitality industry.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with a guest-focused mindset.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Outlook
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Experience with CRM Platform a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management preferred
