We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our corporate accounting team in Norwood, MA. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys owning the close process, developing a strong accounting team, and finding better, more efficient ways to get the work done.

Reporting to the Corporate Controller & Director of Financial & Operational Control, the Accounting Manager will lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple legal entities and operating locations, while also overseeing the accounting that supports our retail operations.

This role is highly collaborative and will work closely with Finance, FP&A, Treasury, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Retail Operations, Inventory/Cost Accounting, and other business partners. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to balance hands-on execution with team leadership and process improvement.

What You'll Do

\n


\n

Lead the Financial Close

\n

    \n
  • Own and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple legal entities.
  • \n

  • Develop and manage the master close calendar, including responsibilities, dependencies, deadlines, and issue resolution.
  • \n

  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and other close-related activity for accuracy and compliance with U.S. GAAP.
  • \n

  • Oversee Company-wide balance sheet reconciliations and drive timely resolution of outstanding items.
  • \n

  • Manage intercompany reconciliations and support consolidation and elimination activities.
  • \n

  • Identify opportunities to improve and shorten the close process while maintaining strong financial controls.
  • \n

Oversee Retail Accounting

  • Lead the accounting function supporting our multi-location retail operations.
  • \n

  • Oversee retail revenue accounting and ensure appropriate revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606.
  • \n

  • Ensure accurate reconciliation of point-of-sale activity to the general ledger.
  • \n

  • Oversee cash, bank deposit, merchant processor, and other payment reconciliations.
  • \n

  • Ensure proper accounting for discounts, refunds, promotions, loyalty programs, customer credits, and other retail activity.
  • \n

  • Partner with Retail Operations to research and resolve accounting and financial reporting matters.
  • \n

Support Financial Reporting, Audit & Controls

\n

  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • \n

  • Partner with the Corporate Controller & Director of Financial & Operational Control and the financial reporting team on public-company reporting requirements, supporting schedules, disclosures, and related analyses.
  • \n

  • Coordinate audit schedules and supporting documentation and serve as a key accounting contact during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
  • \n

  • Execute and maintain key accounting controls and management review controls.
  • \n

  • Support SOX/ICFR documentation, testing, remediation, and continuous improvement.
  • \n

Lead & Develop the Team

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of General and Retail Accountants.
  • \n

  • Establish clear expectations, responsibilities, and deadlines while ensuring appropriate coverage of critical accounting activities.
  • \n

  • Build team capabilities in U.S. GAAP, reconciliations, internal controls, documentation, and financial analysis.
  • \n

  • Create a culture of accountability and ownership where team members understand the "why" behind their accounts and actively investigate and resolve issues.
  • \n

Improve Processes & Systems

\n

    \n
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and automate accounting processes.
  • \n

  • Reduce manual reconciliations, journal entries, and recurring corrections through sustainable process improvements.
  • \n

  • Develop standardized close procedures, reconciliation templates, and accounting workflows.
  • \n

  • Leverage Sage Intacct and other financial and retail systems to improve efficiency, accuracy, visibility, and controls.
  • \n

  • Partner closely with the Inventory/Cost Accountant to ensure inventory, COGS, manufacturing activity, and related accounts are appropriately incorporated into the close.

    What We're Looking For

    \n


    \n

      \n
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • \n

    • 6–8+ years of progressive corporate accounting experience, including meaningful responsibility for financial close and general ledger accounting.
    • \n

    • At least 2 years of direct supervisory or significant accounting team leadership experience.
    • \n

    • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606 revenue recognition.
    • \n

    • Experience with multi-entity accounting, intercompany transactions, and consolidations.
    • \n

    • Experience working in a multi-location retail, consumer products, e-commerce, manufacturing, or similarly complex environment strongly preferred.
    • \n

    • Strong understanding of internal controls over financial reporting; SOX experience strongly preferred.
    • \n

    • Public-company or SEC reporting experience strongly preferred.
    • \n

    • CPA or progress toward CPA certification preferred.
    • \n

    • Experience with Sage Intacct, SAP, Oracle, Workday, or another mid-to-enterprise-level ERP.
    • \n

    • Advanced Excel skills and the ability to work effectively with large data sets and detailed financial information.
    • \n

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, determine root causes, and drive resolution.
    • \n

    • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop accounting professionals while maintaining high standards for accuracy, timeliness, and accountability.
