Job Position Summary: Responsible for operating and maintaining a Bridgeport machine to create metal parts, fixtures, and tooling according to project specifications, tooling instructions and standard charts.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Technical Trade school preferred.
- Proven experience as a Manual Machinist, particularly with Bridgeport machines.
- Mechanical Aptitude
- Strong attention to details
- Organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills
- Time Management Skills
- Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to setup, operate, breakdown and maintain a Bridgeport, Prototrac control, Jig bore, Jig grinder, and Surface grinder, manual lathes, and horning machines.
- Ability to use inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, indicators.
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and company operation sheets.
- Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally.
- Required to pass the Certified Operator Program and maintain certification status.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to safety regulation and standard. Follow Safety culture and wear PPE when required.
- Operates, setup, and breakdown conventional machines to produce products in accordance with production needs:
- Produces assigned products in accordance with verbal and written instructions.
- Read and interpret customer blueprints and company operation sheets to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Records length of time for each job, and quantity of materials used for each job.
- Verifies and visually inspects work and dimensions per operations sheet to specification using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and preset gages.
- Calculate speeds/feeds.
- Maintain specifications by observing tooling; taking measurements, detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; replacing worn tools.
- Maintains tools, gages, and equipment in a clean, orderly, and safe manner.
- Operates within AS9100/ISO9001 requirements to include proper documentation, revision control, traceability, and lot control.
- Performs regular daily maintenance on equipment and work area.
- Reports any problems or discrepancies to immediate supervisor.
- Follow 6s Procedures and maintains a clean organized work area.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
- Normal Production environments, subject to high noise levels from operating machines; physical hazards from moving equipment and sharp machine parts; breathing fumes, dust, and mist; skin exposure to oil and cutting fluid; exposure to sharp metal edges, and forklifts.
- May be asked to travel back and forth between Southwick and Westfield facilities.
Physical Requirements:
- Must have ability to read applicable customer documents with or without corrective lenses.
- May have to lift up to thirty (30) pounds at a time, as required.
- Must be able to push, pull, reach overhead, stand, walk, climb stairs, bend and/or sit for long periods of time.
First Shift: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm
