About Global Automation and Controls:

Global Automation and Controls is a growing leader in customized electrical automation solutions serving commercial and industrial clients throughout Greater Boston and Southern New Hampshire. We specialize in high-performance control systems — from design and programming to field installation and support. Our team thrives on precision, integrity, and results, and we’re on a mission to raise the standard of automation excellence in the region.

Position Overview:

We are looking for a motivated and technically skilled Electrical Controls Specialist to join our team. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for designing, wiring, programming, and troubleshooting control systems across a wide range of applications. You’ll work both in our shop and on job sites throughout New England, ensuring every system meets safety, performance, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and test control panels (per UL508A standards preferred).

  • Program and debug PLCs and HMIs (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).

  • Install and commission control systems in the field.

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, layouts, and technical documentation.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues in real-time.

  • Collaborate with engineers, electricians, and project managers to deliver turnkey automation solutions.

  • Document control logic, revisions, wiring changes, and job site notes.

  • Maintain high safety standards on every project site.

  • Provide technical support and training to customers when needed.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or technical training in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field — or equivalent hands-on experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in controls design, panel building, or industrial automation.

  • Strong understanding of HMI, PLCs, VFDs, relays, motor controls, and sensors.

  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, etc.).

  • Capable of interpreting and creating electrical schematics using CAD software.

  • Self-motivated with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites across MA and NH.

Preferred (Not Required):

  • UL508A panel building experience

What We Offer:

  • Competitive compensation based on experience

  • Growth opportunities in a fast-expanding company.

  • Supportive team culture that values initiative, integrity, and craftsmanship.

  • Company-branded apparel, tools, and ongoing technical training.

If you’re ready to grow your career with a company that’s building smart systems — and building an empire — we’d love to hear from you.
