Position Summary The Pastry Sous Chef plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of the pastry department. This hands-on position works closely with the Pastry Chef to maintain the highest standards of quality, creativity, and efficiency in both production and presentation. The ideal candidate combines operational expertise with artistic vision and thrives in a collaborative environment that inspires team members and delights clients.

Responsibilities

· Oversee day-to-day pastry operations to ensure efficient production and service

· Manage inventory, place orders, and maintain appropriate product par levels

· Monitor labor usage and assist with staff scheduling to support cost control

· Participate in forecasting and production planning aligned with business demands

· Conduct monthly off-site visits as needed

· Collaborate with the Pastry Chef on menu development, themed event concepts, and plating design

· Train, mentor, and develop pastry team members to uphold quality standards

· Ensure strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

· 3–5 years of professional pastry experience; supervisory or lead experience preferred

· Formal culinary or pastry education strongly encouraged

· Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, production systems, and large-scale preparation

· Proven ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and shifting priorities

· Creative mindset with an eye for detail, design, and presentation

· Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills

· Ability to train, motivate, and support a diverse team

· Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

· Proficient in inventory management, ordering, and basic cost-control practices

· Familiarity with food safety standards and ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain)

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods as required by the role
