Job Description

Core Responsibilities

Machine Set-Up: Install and align cutting tools, tool holders, chucks, collets, fixtures, and bar feeders according to job instructions.
Offsets & Programming: Set tool offsets and work offsets, load/verify programs (via USB, DNC, or network), and make minor edits or adjustments to G-code/controls as needed.
First-Piece Inspection: Prove out new or changed setups safely and perform and document first-piece quality inspections.
Quality Control: Measure finished components using precision tools like micrometers, dial calipers, height gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
Process Monitoring: Monitor tool wear, change dull inserts, adjust feeds and speeds, and troubleshoot machining or part-tolerance issues during production.
Maintenance & Housekeeping: Perform daily preventive maintenance (checking fluid and coolant levels, lubrication, chip handling) and maintain a clean 5S shop floor.
Operator Support: Train and assist machine operators on routine loading, unloading, and basic part-checking procedures.

Requirements & Qualifications

Education: High school diploma, GED, or completion of a technical/trade program in CNC machining.
Experience: 1 to 3+ years of hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC equipment.
Technical Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret blue prints, CAD/CAM files, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Proficiency with shop math (geometry and trigonometry).
- Familiarity with CNC controller brands (such as Fanuc, Siemens, or Haas).
Physical Ability: Ability to stand for long shifts, use manual dexterity, and lift/handle metal parts and fixtures up to 50–60 lbs.
