Hiring a general working-foreman, we are a general contractor focused on utility work, playgrounds, & light commercial/industrial work.
Full time, year-round, hourly position.
Majority of jobs are 1-1.5 hours away (western MA, central MA, and metro-west Boston area).
Mix of prevailing wage & private work.
Company truck (take home) & fuel card for the right person.
Pay based on experience & qualifications (base pay rate for private work/shop work - prevailing wage ranges per job).
Bonuses based on production.
Owner of the company is very hands on; MA pipefitter apprenticeship (4-years including night courses) spot available for the right person.
Typical jobs:
- Water service lines & connections
- Underground gas service lines (HDPE fusion)
- Drainage & stormwater
- Small lot site prep & pad prep <1acre
- Playground construction
- Right-of-Way (ROW) brush maintenance for municipality’s & power companies
- Light structural steel & misc. metals
- Light Concrete (equipment pads, footings for playground equipment, balcony repairs, manhole connections, sidewalks, curbing).
- Asphalt (limited to patch work of our trenches).
- Tennis court construction
- Wetland replication
Skills:
- Read & understand a set of plans; establish benchmarks off known spot grades and carry elevations, calculate inverts, create stock list when needed for material orders, etc.,
- Manage a small crew (2 guys) & assist in managing sub-contractors while on site (go over plans with them, assist with directing scope of work).
- Operate equipment (skid steer, mini-ex, full size excavation equipment, cab tractor with boom sprayer attachment)
- Assist pipefitter & welder with cutting & beveling pipe, fit joints with chain falls & come-a-longs.
- Set-up baker staging and ladders into manholes & clarifier tanks to OSHA standards.
- Be comfortable with hauling & backing up equipment trailers & transporting equipment.
- Run compaction equipment (plate, jumping jack, & rollers)
- Huge plus if you’re mechanically inclined and can wrench on our trucks & equipment for maintenance, fab custom brackets & parts for our trucks, etc).
- Basic rough carpentry (form work, temp shoring, temp structures, rebar).
- Welding a plus - but not required. We can teach the right person if they’re willing. Carbon & stainless structural, aluminum handrail & clips, Sch.10 stainless pipe.
- Basic rigging for hoisting equipment.
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license with clean (clean enough… no recent DUI’s) driving record.
- Ability to pass MA CORI check (school/playground work).
- Occasional after-hours emergency work (<5 days/year).
- OSHA10 with the expectation that you obtain your OSHA40 within the first 60 days – we will pay for it.
- Valid MA 2A/1C hoisting license.
- DOT medical card.
- Reside within 30 minutes of Winchester NH area, ability to meet directly at job sites or shop address in Winchester NH in morning to pick-up crew as needed.
