Job Description
The Battery Engineer / Senior Battery Engineer will join the product development team to drive cell-level development of next-generation electrolytes into larger formats. In this role, you will drive cell design, electrolyte optimization, and formation protocol development for lithium-ion chemistries, with a strong emphasis on cylindrical cell development.
\n
\n
You will work cross-functionally with electrolyte and manufacturing teams to translate lab-scale results into pilot-scale cells and will play a central role in diagnosing performance and safety issues through postmortem failure analysis and electrochemical characterization.
\n
\n
Key Responsibilities
\n
- \n
- Evaluate cell designs and electrolyte optimization for high-voltage lithium-ion chemistries from pouch format into cylindrical and prismatic cell formats.
- Develop and refine cell formation protocols to improve performance and manufacturing yield.
- Conduct postmortem failure analysis and electrochemical characterization to diagnose degradation mechanisms and drive corrective action.
- Drive cell development and process optimization in pilot-scale manufacturing, including assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of cylindrical and prismatic cells.
- Perform data analysis of cell life and electrolyte performance under diverse testing conditions (e.g., fast charge, high voltage, low/high temperatures, etc) across multiple cell chemistries and formats.
- Deliver technical reports to multidisciplinary R&D teams, summarizing test results, data analysis, and recommendations to guide project decisions.
- Champion safe lab operations, ensuring adherence to safety protocols across all laboratory and pilot-scale testing activities.
