Position Title: CNC Programmer
Location: Warren, MA
Duration: 6-Month Contract to Hire
Contract Pay Rate: $33-$42/hour - Depending on experience and qualifications
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to develop, optimize, and support machining programs for a variety of turning and milling applications in a precision manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in improving machining efficiency, reducing cycle times, supporting production, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have strong CNC programming experience, a deep understanding of machining processes, and the ability to collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to improve quality, throughput, and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for turning and milling operations using G-code and CAM software.
- Identify opportunities to improve cycle times, machining efficiency, and overall equipment performance.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers and machine operators to refine machining processes and resolve production issues.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements to ensure accurate machining and tooling selection.
- Utilize CAD/CAM systems to create and maintain machine programs, tool lists, setup documentation, and manufacturing routings.
- Design and maintain tooling and fixturing concepts to support safe, repeatable, and efficient production.
- Specify, source, and procure tooling and fixturing components while partnering with vendors to improve tooling performance and reduce costs.
- Develop setup instructions, operational documentation, and process support materials for production teams.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, throughput, and manufacturing efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 5 years of CNC programming and machining experience.
- Experience programming multi-axis turning and milling equipment.
- Strong understanding of G-code programming and machining principles.
- CAD experience required.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T requirements.
- Strong mathematical aptitude, including geometry, trigonometry, ratios, and measurements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Programming, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field.
- CAM software experience.
- Experience supporting high-precision machining environments.
- Knowledge of tooling design, fixtures, and process optimization.
- Continuous improvement or Lean Manufacturing experience.
