MEP Manager
Position Overview
The MEP Manager oversees the successful integration, coordination, and execution of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and related systems on large-scale construction projects. Working closely with the project team, subcontractors, and key stakeholders, the MEP Manager ensures project efficiency, quality, and compliance with design standards, codes, and schedules. This role requires technicalproficiency, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to lead interdisciplinary teams through planning, execution, and closeout phases.
Key Responsibilities
1. Preconstruction & Design Review
- Identifyconstructability issues and potential code violations early in the design phase.
- Conduct surveys of existing buildings to ensure MEP system compatibility.
- Review design documents to confirm compliance with project requirements and owner standards.
- Coordinate MEP design progress to 100% construction readiness, issuing RFIs as needed.
2. Planning, Coordination, and Submittals
- Collaborate with the VDC department for clash detection and 3D modeling.
- Participate in the buyout of MEP trades to ensure proper scoping and procurement.
- Oversee submittal reviews to verify alignment with project specifications and schedules.
- Manage composite coordination drawings, ensuring they are clash-free andsubmittedtimely.
3. Construction Process & Quality Control
- Lead weekly coordination meetings andmaintainmeeting minutes.
- Oversee field inspections and confirm that installations meet quality, design, and code requirements.
- Coordinate shutdowns, impairments, and utility tie-ins as needed.
- Work closely with manufacturers to ensure installation quality through workshops and field tutorials.
4. Risk Management & Safety
- Implement company safety and quality control programs on-site.
- EnsureSiteforminspections are performed asrequired.
- Identifyrisks related to MEP systems and propose mitigation strategies.
5. Commissioning & Closeout
- Develop commissioning schedules to meet project milestones.
- Collaborate with the commissioning agent to address functional testing and deficiency closeouts.
- Ensure proper documentation and inspections are completed for project handoff.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction MEP management.
- Knowledge of Procore, BIM software, and other construction tools.
- Strong understanding of construction codes, safety regulations, and MEP systems.
- Effective leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
