Position Summary

The Materials Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day physical and systems execution of warehouse operations at Euro-American Worldwide Logistics. This includes receiving and inspecting inbound materials, picking and packing customer orders, staging and loading outbound shipments, operating powered industrial trucks, maintaining accurate inventory, and recording all transactions in the company's warehouse management and ERP systems.


Accuracy and documentation discipline are central to this role. Euro-American operates as an ISO 9001 certified third-party logistics provider serving its clients, and the integrity of inventory records, shipping paperwork, and system transactions directly affects client service and audit readiness.


Key Responsibilities


Inbound and Receiving

• Unload inbound trailers, containers, and parcel deliveries using appropriate material handling equipment.

• Verify received goods against packing lists, bills of lading, and purchase orders; identify and report discrepancies, shortages, and damage.

• Inspect incoming shipments for physical condition and packaging integrity.

• Label, palletize, and put away received material to the correct storage location.

• Record all receipts in the WMS at the time of transaction.


Outbound and Order Fulfillment

• Pick customer orders accurately against pick lists and system-directed instructions.

• Pack orders using specified materials and configurations, including palletizing, shrink wrapping, banding, and carton preparation.

• Stage outbound shipments and verify counts prior to release.

• Prepare and verify outbound shipping documentation, including packing lists, bills of lading, and carrier paperwork.

• Load outbound trailers and parcel pickups; confirm seal application and record seal numbers where required.


Inventory Management

• Perform cycle counts and participate in periodic physical inventories.

• Investigate and resolve count variances; escalate unresolved discrepancies to the Warehouse Manager.

• Maintain accurate location, lot, and quantity data for all material under EA control.

• Monitor and report damaged or non-conforming inventory.


Systems and Documentation

• Enter and maintain all warehouse transactions in the WMS and ERP systems in a timely and accurate manner.

• Generate and print labels, pick lists, and shipping documents as required.

• Complete required operational records legibly and completely.

• Follow established SOPs and work instructions for all assigned tasks.


Equipment and Facility

• Operate sit-down counterbalance forklifts, reach trucks, electric pallet jacks, and manual equipment safely and within certification.

• Complete daily pre-operation equipment inspections and report defects immediately.

• Maintain a clean, orderly, and hazard-free work area.

• Support general facility upkeep, including dock area maintenance and packaging material disposal.


Safety and Compliance

• Comply with all OSHA requirements, company safety policies, and site-specific procedures.

• Participate in required training and certification programs.


Qualifications Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• One or more years of warehouse, distribution, or material handling experience.

• Demonstrated ability to operate powered industrial trucks safely, or willingness and aptitude to be trained and certified.

• Basic computer proficiency, including scanner or handheld device use and data entry.

• Ability to read, understand, and follow written procedures, pick lists, and shipping documents in English.

• Attention to detail and a consistent record of accurate work.

• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

• Ability to successfully complete a TSA Security Threat Assessment.

• Must not appear on the FDA debarment list.

• Ability to pass all other pre-employment screening in accordance with company policy.


Qualifications Preferred

• Experience with a warehouse management system (WMS) or ERP platform.

• Current powered industrial truck certification. EA will train and certify/recertify qualified candidates.

• Experience in a third-party logistics, freight forwarding, or regulated distribution environment.

• Familiarity with shipping documentation.

• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.


Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds; occasionally handle heavier loads with assistance or mechanical aid.

• Stand, walk, bend, reach, and climb for the majority of an eight hour shift.

• Work in an ambient warehouse environment subject to seasonal temperature variation and powered equipment traffic.

• Work in and around dock doors, trailers, and elevated racking.

• This position does not require work in refrigerated, frozen, or ultra-low temperature storage areas.


Pre-Employment and Ongoing Screening

Employment in this position is contingent upon successful completion of the screening below. All three are required at hire and are repeated on the airport badge renewal cycle. Failure to obtain, maintain, or renew any of them may result in reassignment or separation.

Euro-American arranges and funds all screening. No cost to the employee or applicant.

Screening Requirements:


Massport airport identification badge

Fingerprint-based criminal history records check administered through the badging office, against the TSA disqualifying offense list. Performed at hire and at each badge renewal.


TSA Security Threat Assessment

Required for personnel with access to air cargo under EA's TSA-approved security program.

Performed at hire and at each badge renewal.


FDA debarment list check

Section 306 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act; required under EA's quality system and client agreements. Performed at hire and at each badge renewal.

• Criminal history information is not requested on EA's initial written employment application, consistent with M.G.L. c. 151B.

• Where a third-party consumer reporting agency is used, EA follows Fair Credit Reporting Act disclosure, authorization, and adverse action procedures.

• Screening records are retained by Human Resources and are made available to auditors and clients on request in accordance with EA's records policy.

• The identification badge supports facility access.


Compensation and Benefits


Compensation

• Hourly rate: $22.00 to $23.50, dependent on experience and capabilities matching the requirements of the position.

• Overtime paid in accordance with federal and Massachusetts law.


Health Coverage

• Euro-American pays 100% of the health insurance premium for employee-only coverage.

• Euro-American pays 50% of the premium for spouse and family coverage.


Retirement

• 3% automatic employer contribution to the company 401(k) plan, funded entirely by Euro-American.

• No employee contribution is required to receive it. Employees may elect to contribute above this amount.

• Employer contributions are subject to the plan's vesting schedule.


Paid Time Off

• Combined paid time off bank covering vacation and sick time. PTO accrues from date of hire.

• Time may be used for sick time purposes beginning on the 90th day of employment, consistent with the Massachusetts Earned Sick Time Law.

• Time may be used as vacation beginning at the six month mark: one week at six months, two weeks after one year, increasing with tenure per company policy.

• Ten paid holidays per calendar year, in addition to the PTO.
