We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to provide engineering and technical support in the preparation of approval drawings, shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and supporting technical documentation. You will review customer specifications, project plans, and technical requirements, and coordinate documentation between various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare approval, shop, and fabrication drawings as well as supporting technical documentation.
  • Review customer specifications, project plans, and technical requirements.
  • Assist with design reviews for custom tanks, pressure vessels, and fabricated steel components.
  • Coordinate engineering documentation between customers, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Maintain drawing revisions, project records, and technical submittals.
  • Support technical reviews related to tank configuration and related fabrication requirements.
  • Create and revise 2D drawings using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software.
  • Translate customer requirements into clear drawings for review and approval.
  • Assist with drawing packages for customer approvals and internal shop use.
  • Work with the shop team to clarify details and resolve fabrication questions.
  • Support project managers and production staff in moving jobs from award through delivery.
  • Monitor project schedules, drawing deadlines, and production milestones.
  • Coordinate communication between engineering, production, sales, and customers.
  • Track open action items to keep projects moving forward.
  • Assist with organizing project documentation and customer submittals.
  • Assist with material takeoffs, vendor quotations, and purchasing support.
  • Generate and track purchase orders for materials and components.
  • Follow up with vendors regarding pricing and delivery schedules.
  • Support QA documentation and review inspection reports for completeness.
  • Help identify process improvements in drafting, documentation, and production support.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Comfortable working with office staff, shop personnel, vendors, and customers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 0–3+ years of experience in engineering, drafting, manufacturing, or project coordination.
  • Experience in steel fabrication, pressure vessels, or industrial equipment.
  • Familiarity with mechanical/fabrication standards such as UL, STI, API, or AWS.
  • Experience with project coordination, purchasing, or quality documentation.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and project tracking tools.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middleboro, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $85000.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
