Job DescriptionWhat a Day Looks Like

You arrive with a plan: translate complex prints into efficient toolpaths and stable setups. You open your CAM environment to create, edit, and optimize CNC programs for milling and turning centers, and when needed, for multi‑axis equipment. You select cutting tools, speeds, and feeds that balance cycle time with surface finish and tool life. You craft setup sheets, tooling lists, and work instructions so anyone on the floor can run the job with confidence.

On first articles, you’re at the machine for prove‑outs, adjusting code to nail features and tolerances. A machinist flags a chatter issue; you jump in to troubleshoot tooling, programming, or machine capability and get parts flowing. Between runs, you partner with engineering on design‑for‑manufacturability tweaks and sketch out fixture and workholding concepts that stabilize tricky parts. Throughout, you verify that every program meets safety requirements and shop standards.

What You’ll Own

  • High‑quality CNC programs for mills, lathes, and multi‑axis machines
  • Tool selection and machining strategies tuned for quality, cost, and throughput
  • Clear documentation: setup sheets, tool lists, and operator instructions
  • Prove‑outs and first articles with on‑the‑fly program refinement
  • Hands‑on support during setup and production
  • Rapid troubleshooting across tooling, code, and machine performance
  • Collaboration with engineering to improve manufacturability
  • Assist with fixture design and solid workholding approaches
  • Program and process safety compliance

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required); technical degree or machinist apprenticeship (preferred)
  • 3–5+ years of CNC programming experience in manufacturing
  • Strong command of G‑code and CNC machine operations
  • Depth across CNC programming and machining: G‑code, mills and/or lathes, engineering drawings, GD&T, tooling, and machining fundamentals
  • Track record optimizing processes, ensuring quality and print compliance, performing root‑cause analysis, and leading continuous improvement
  • Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and organizational skills; team‑first mindset; ability to juggle multiple priorities
