Job Description
Job DescriptionPosition Summary:ESI seeks a skilled and detail-oriented PCB Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team. Thisrole is critical to the ongoing development of our next-generation electron beam equipment and high-voltage control systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in PCB design, embeddedmicrocontroller systems, and analog/digital circuit design, along with hands-on experience in schematiccapture, layout, and bench testing. You’ll work on advanced embedded control PCBs used in precision industrial equipment. This positionoffers the opportunity to improve and evolve existing designs, contribute to new product development, and support manufacturing and deployment activities. This is a full-time, on-site position. Occasional travel may be required.Essential Job Functions: Design, test, and document multi-layer PCBs, including control, display, current sensing, andhigh-voltage control boards. Update and refine existing PCB designs (e.g., Rev B to Rev C) to improve layout, spacing, component reliability, and overall performance. Develop and debug firmware for Microchip PIC microcontrollers using MPLAB ICD andPICSTART Plus. Collaborate with software engineers to integrate and validate embedded C and Assembly code. Propose and implement design improvements related to signal integrity, protection circuitry, andsystem diagnostics. Interface with manufacturing partners (e.g., VEMAS, Supreme India) to coordinate builds, returns, and design adjustments. Generate Gerber and drill files using EAGLE for PCB fabrication and assembly. Create assembly drawings, BOMs, and detailed schematics using EAGLE. Support bench testing and troubleshooting of components such as PWM drivers, Hall effectsensors, and current/voltage monitoring circuits. Evaluate alternate components and support sourcing resilience. Maintain thorough documentation and effectively transfer knowledge to engineering and testteams.Qualifications and Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field. 3+ years of PCB design experience, ideally in embedded control and high-voltage systems. Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout (EAGLE or similar tools). Experience with embedded firmware development (C and Assembly) for Microchip PICmicrocontrollers. Strong understanding of analog/digital circuits, high-voltage systems, and current sensing. Skilled in the use of oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other test/lab equipment. Solid understanding of signal integrity, grounding, and noise mitigation techniques. Ability to read and generate engineering drawings in DXF and other CAD formats. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Preferred Qualifications: Experience with electron beam or other high-voltage industrial equipment. Familiarity with PWM control loops and NE555-based circuit designs. Experience using MPLAB X IDE, Visio (flowcharting), and diagnostic tools for embeddedsystems. Knowledge of EEPROM management, firmware versioning, and PLC communication protocols.Benefits:ESI offers a comprehensive benefits package, including: Health and Dental Insurance Life, AD&D, Short- and Long-Term Disability 401(k) with discretionary employer contributions Vacation and Paid Holidays Tuition Assistance and Technical Training Employee Referral Bonuses Performance Reviews and Pay-for-Performance Incentives Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Direct Deposit, Credit Union Membership Recognition Programs and Employee ActivitiesAbout ESI:ESI, a member of the Iwasaki Electric Group, is North America’s largest manufacturer and a globalsupplier of Electron Beam (EB) curing equipment.
