The Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Driver is responsible for safely transporting patients to and from medical appointments, rehabilitation centers, dialysis clinics, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities. The driver must provide courteous, reliable, and timely service while ensuring passenger safety, comfort, and dignity, including assistance for passengers with mobility challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely operate NEMT vehicles (vans, wheelchair-accessible vehicles) in compliance with traffic laws and company policies.
• Pick up and drop off passengers at scheduled times and locations.
• Assist passengers with entering and exiting the vehicle, including wheelchair securement and use of lifts or ramps.
• Ensure proper use of seat belts, wheelchair tie-downs, and other safety equipment.
• Maintain a professional, respectful, and compassionate attitude toward all passengers.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety issues.
• Maintain accurate trip logs, mileage records, and required documentation.
• Follow HIPAA guidelines to protect passenger confidentiality.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, caregivers, and healthcare facilities.
• Respond appropriately to delays, route changes, or passenger needs.
• Keep vehicle clean, fueled, and in good working condition.
• Handle passengers with special needs, including elderly, disabled, or medically fragile individuals.
