Home Healthcare, Hospice and Community Services is looking for a mission-driven and compassionate manager with strong leadership and problem solving skills to bring their unique approach to volunteer engagement to our team!
The Volunteer Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and coordinating the agency’s comprehensive volunteer program. Agency volunteers participate in the Meals On Wheels Program, agency events, with Hospice patients, and serve on various committees. This role ensures the volunteer program follows all applicable regulations and supports the organization’s mission, values, and service goals. The Volunteer Manager oversees the full volunteer lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, training, engagement, and retention of all agency volunteers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee the agency-wide volunteer program in alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements
- Recruit, screen, and onboard volunteers for a variety of roles across the organization
- Coordinate and/or deliver volunteer orientation and ongoing training programs
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify volunteer needs and create meaningful volunteer opportunities
- Provide ongoing support, supervision, and recognition to promote volunteer engagement and retention
- Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with relevant local, state, and federal regulations
- Track volunteer hours, maintain records, and prepare reports as needed utilizing volunteer software
- Partner with individual programs to support volunteer involvement in agency events and outreach activities
- Serve as a liaison between volunteers and staff to promote effective communication and positive experiences
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, healthcare administration, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in volunteer management, preferably in a healthcare or hospice setting.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Knowledge of hospice philosophy and sensitivity to patient/family needs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and volunteer management software.
- Valid driver’s license, required insurance, and reliable transportation (may require travel to visit patients or attend events).
