Job Description

This role involves assembling products in a fast-paced manufacturing environment by working from material lists, blueprints, and assembly drawings. You will gather the correct materials, assemble components, perform tests and inspections, and prepare finished products for shipment. Assemblers may work in different departments, including IMC and Roto Assembly, and will be cross-trained to perform a variety of tasks across the production line.

Responsibilities

  • Work from material lists, blueprints, and assembly drawings to correctly assemble products according to specifications.
  • Gather and organize the correct materials and components needed for each assembly job.
  • Retrieve products from a conveyor belt and insert or adjust linings within the products as required.
  • Assemble handles, pins, and other components and securely install them on the products.
  • Insert foam into products, package finished items, and prepare them for shipment.
  • Rotate between multiple sections of the IMC assembly line to perform different tasks throughout the day, reducing repetitive work.
  • Set up assemblies at a designated bench in the Roto Assembly department by gathering proper materials from the conveyor.
  • Use hand and power tools to assemble products safely and accurately.
  • Review and interpret prints and drawings to ensure correct assembly steps are followed.
  • Measure components with a tape measure to confirm dimensions meet specified requirements.
  • Ensure all specifications and quality standards are followed throughout the assembly process.
  • Perform tests on products to verify functionality and quality before packaging or shipment.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions accurately to complete tasks.
  • Collaborate with team members and work effectively in a cooperative, production-focused environment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in line with facility standards.
  • Work assigned shifts (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) and support department needs as required.

Essential Skills

  • Experience using hand tools in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
  • Experience using power tools safely and effectively.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, prints, or assembly drawings.
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions accurately.
  • Ability to follow written instructions accurately.
  • Ability to measure components using a tape measure and verify dimensions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure specifications and quality standards are met.
  • Willingness to rotate between different tasks and sections on the assembly line.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Trade school education or training related to manufacturing, mechanics, or a similar field.
  • Automotive experience or familiarity with mechanical assembly.
  • Prior assembly experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Blueprint reading skills and experience working from technical drawings.

Work Environment

The work environment is a clean, organized, and well-lit manufacturing facility. Assemblers work in designated areas such as IMC Assembly and Roto Assembly, using hand and power tools, tape measures, and production equipment. The setting is fast-paced and production-focused, with strong emphasis on safety, quality, and teamwork. Multiple shifts are available, including 1st shift (approximately 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.), 2nd shift (approximately 2:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.), and 3rd shift (approximately 10:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.), with some departments running slightly adjusted end times. The facility offers an on-site gym for employees and supports cross-training and department mobility, allowing you to gain experience in different areas of assembly.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Northampton, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.20/hr.
