GENERAL SUMMARY

Tape and Reel Department Lead responsibilities include, but are not limited to, overseeing department operations, maintaining efficiency and organization, supervising department employees, tracking employee performance and accuracy, delegating tasks, and prioritizing workload. In this position, the employee will also operate a variety of taping and reeling equipment to fulfill customers’ requirements, in addition to performing administrative-type duties such as managing supply inventory, obtaining price quotes, and creating purchase orders.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Lead functions include:
    1. Ensuring that tape and reel operations are carried out efficiently and accurately.
    2. Supervising department employees with a “continuous improvement” focus.
    3. Provides training as needed to Tape and Reel staff.
    4. Set goals and expectations.
    5. Hold employees accountable for their work.
    6. Creates and/or revises work specifications and SOPs as needed.
  • Provides regular status reports to the warehouse supervisor.
  • Fulfills job orders using tape and reel equipment (tape and reel machines, peel force tester, reel counter, bake ovens, dry pack equipment).
  • Records and reports data using Microsoft software (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Approves potential jobs by researching device types and dimensions via manufacturer data sheets. Drives continuous improvement.
  • Fulfill customer tape and reel orders by thoroughly reviewing paperwork, measuring part size, selecting carrier tape, setting up the machine correctly, and completing the order. Utilize IOP-34 international standards to meet and maintain Tape and Reel requirements.
  • Accurately process moisture-sensitive products and operate the industrial baking ovens for semiconductors, ensuring that they are timed accurately while following JEDEC industry standards for baking semiconductors in ovens.
  • Set up the V-Tek TM-50 tape and reel machine to match the required semiconductor size specifications per job order.
  • Fulfill job orders by utilizing equipment such as peel force tester, reel counter, and dry pack machine in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Review customer orders and select the correct carrier tape using precision measuring tools and data sheets.
  • Perform the following key administrative functions daily for management purposes:
    1. Complete data to record and track processes and instructions using Microsoft Office and related computer software.
    2. Maintain tape and reel supplies and inventory cycle counts.
    3. Schedule shipments to achieve on-time delivery.
  • Research and identify missing inventory using multiple applications within Epicor as directed by the supervisor.

  • Cycle counting

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), file management, and maintaining records
  • Medium complexity knowledge of Excel with the ability to create new or modify existing spreadsheets and understand basic formulas.
  • Ability to work with a group or independently to perform job functions accurately.
  • Ability to communicate with employees at all levels within multiple departments.
  • Able to speak, read, understand English, and follow written instructions.
  • Solid team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to follow work specifications and SOPs.
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask
