Seeking a person with training/experience in grinding or blending metal for our GS Small Grinding team. Higher rate potential commensurate with experience.

This position may require access to export-controlled technology or software source code that is subject to export controls restrictions under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”) and will therefore be required to meet eligibility criteria under ITAR and EAR regulations.

Duties include:

  • After casting(s) have been cut-off, belt grind parts using tools such as belt grinder, hard disc grinder, lift table, pneumatic tools, and 7-inch grinder as required by workmanship standards.
  • Blend all areas with various hand air tools to finished state without grinding into, or changing contours of, casting.
  • Inspect and disposition castings finish using Cast Microfinish Comparator to PF Standard.
  • Identify non-conforming material.
  • If casting does not meet workmanship standards, perform required rework or send to weld repair.
  • Read & interpret spec sheets.
  • Clean and maintain area; fill out department safety sheets.
  • Perform other duties or assignments as directed by management.

Education:

High school diploma or GED required. Vocational/Technical School experience a plus.

The successful candidate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The job requires standing for long periods of time (6+ hours) using air tools with vibration characteristics, holding parts or grinders for long periods of time and be able to manipulate castings in a safe way.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather), extreme heat, and work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Shift schedule is 5:00 am-1:30 pm to start, with overtime available after the scheduled shift.
