Position Summary: Mechanical Integrity Engineer

Location: Nashua, NH

Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical cables for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. We are currently seeking a Mechanical Integrity Engineer to join our Cable Assembly team. The position will be located in Nashua, New Hampshire.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Mechanical Integrity Engineer you will analyze product performance under various stresses and develop solutions to improve both the initial and long-term reliability of products.

  • Develop new products and processes via mechanical testing and qualification of electrical cables and components.
  • Develop test sequences and procedures to determine the long-term reliability of electrical cables that are a factor in customer use and application requirements.
  • Process and analyze test data, create reports and presentations for internal and external customers.
  • Support the product design effort in mechanical analysis such as tolerance analysis, FEA, thermal simulations, materials analysis, failure analysis, and creating test plans.
  • Prepare test samples and test requests, design and fabricate test fixtures, interface with test lab technicians.
  • Collaborate with engineering design teams, suppliers, and manufacturing personnel, supporting the development and validation of product prototypes through pilot production, as well as interfacing with beta-site customers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 years of professional experience
  • Experience with solid modeling tools - SolidWorks and/or Pro/E
  • Experience with data analysis software - MS Excel, Minitab would be a plus
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis tools is desirable, ANSYS would be a plus
  • Experience with Thermal Analysis – Siemens Flotherm, ANSYS Fluent would be a plus
  • Understanding of how to replicate international standards for testing
  • Understanding of how to perform failure analysis, tolerance analysis, and DFMEA
  • Understanding of electrical systems and electrical cables
  • Ability to communicate with technical & non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work in team environment
  • Knowledge of copper alloys and high-performance engineering thermoplastics would be a plus
  • Knowledge of thermal interface materials and their applications would be a plus
  • Desire to create and design new products and processes
