Our client is seeking an experienced Buyer – Mechanical to join its Supply Chain team. This role is responsible for sourcing mechanical parts, hardware, fabricated components, and other materials used in complex electromechanical systems. The ideal candidate has experience in a regulated environment and thrives in low‑volume, high‑complexity production settings.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers.
  • Expedite critical materials to support production schedules.
  • Maintain purchasing documentation and support internal/external audits.
  • Participate in root cause and corrective action activities for supplier issues.
  • Monitor supplier performance across quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness.
  • Prepare purchasing metrics, cost‑savings reports, and procurement dashboards.
  • Source, quote, negotiate, and issue purchase orders for mechanical parts, custom machine components, hardware, subassemblies, and specialized manufacturing services.
  • Ensure all purchased materials comply with FDA, ISO 13485, and internal quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, conduct performance reviews and vendor visits.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Production on prototype builds, part obsolescence, and ECO implementation.
  • Perform cost analysis and support make/buy decisions and cost‑reduction initiatives.

Qualifications/Must Haves:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong negotiation, supplier management, and cost‑analysis skills.
  • Experience sourcing mechanical parts, hardware, and fabricated components.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Salesforce, etc.)
  • Familiarity with low‑volume, high‑complexity manufacturing environments.
  • Understanding of FDA QSR (21 CFR 820) and ISO 13485 requirements.
  • 4–6 years of procurement or supply chain experience in medical device or other regulated manufacturing.

Nice‑to‑Have:

  • Experience with SRM tools (SAP Ariba, Coupa, Procurify, etc.)
  • Experience supporting prototype builds and engineering change processes.
  • Background in electromechanical or mechanical assembly procurement.
