Position Summary
A large-scale enterprise transformation program is seeking an experienced Interim Communications Lead to support strategic and tactical communications initiatives for a high-visibility program environment.
This is a high-impact temporary role responsible for executing communications plans, maintaining stakeholder engagement, and ensuring timely, consistent delivery of project messaging. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with program leadership and Organizational Change Management (OCM) teams to develop clear, engaging, and actionable communications that support program momentum and organizational readiness.
The ideal candidate will be highly adaptable, capable of quickly integrating into a complex project environment, and skilled at balancing reactive communications needs with long-term communication planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Audit current project communications activities to ensure alignment with the broader program roadmap
- Draft and distribute high-quality communications including:
- Project briefings
- Status updates
- Stakeholder communications
- Presentations
- Leadership messaging
- Coordinate development and distribution of project materials such as:
- Announcements
- Reports
- Newsletters
- Maintain and update stakeholder distribution lists to ensure accurate communication delivery
- Manage and organize SharePoint document repositories related to project communications and deliverables
- Review project website content and recommend updates or enhancements
- Monitor communication feedback channels and escalate complex concerns appropriately
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with agency staff, leadership, and stakeholders
- Ensure stakeholders remain informed, engaged, and project-ready throughout program activities
- Prepare regular progress reports and maintain detailed project documentation to support continuity
Required Qualifications
- Proven ability to quickly integrate into complex project environments and establish credibility with large teams
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Project communications
- Public relations
- Organizational communications
- Change management communications
- Strong professional writing and content development skills
- Ability to rapidly learn program terminology, processes, and organizational culture
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, especially:
- PowerPoint
- Word
- Outlook
- Experience with digital communication platforms such as:
- Mailchimp
- WordPress
- SharePoint
- Strong ability to manage both urgent communications and long-term communication planning initiatives
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting enterprise transformation or modernization programs
- Familiarity with Organizational Change Management (OCM) methodologies
- Experience working with government, public sector, or highly regulated organizations
- Strong presentation and executive communication capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments
