Job Description

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced tax professional to join the firm in a senior capacity. The role centers on preparing individual (Form 1040) and business (Forms 1120, 1120S, and 1065) income tax returns to completion or near-completion, working alongside the firm's partners. Supervisory and review responsibilities will grow with the role.

Candidates who hold a CPA or EA license — or are actively working toward one — are strongly preferred, as this is designed to be a long-term, senior presence in the firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare individual income tax returns (Form 1040), including returns with Schedule C, D, E, and K-1 activity, from source documents through completion.
  • Prepare business income tax returns — S-corporations (1120S), partnerships (1065), and C-corporations (1120) — with supporting workpapers and schedules.
  • Prepare fiduciary and tax-exempt organization returns (Forms 1041 and 990) as needed.
  • Review and respond to IRS and state tax notices; support client tax planning discussions.
  • Work with client trial balance and QuickBooks data as needed in connection with business return preparation.
  • Review work of junior staff; collaborate with partners on workflow priorities during peak filing periods.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of public accounting or tax preparation experience, with demonstrated ability to prepare individual and business returns.
  • Proficiency with professional tax software; experience with CCH Axcess Tax is strongly preferred. Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office is required.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple engagements concurrently; professional communication with clients and colleagues.

Preferred

  • CPA or EA license, or active pursuit of licensure.
  • Experience in a small or regional public accounting firm with direct client responsibility.
  • Familiarity with the CCH Axcess suite (Tax, Document, Engagement, Workstream) and SurePrep.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and credentials. Benefits include health insurance; CPA examination fee reimbursement; and annual CPE support.
