Job Title: Forklift Operator

Job Description

This role supports machine operators and the production team by performing a wide range of tasks across maintenance, clean-up, yard work, warehouse operations, utilities, material handling, and general production activities. The forklift operator helps ensure safe, efficient, and orderly workflow in an industrial environment, while maintaining a clean work area and following all safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist designated machine operators and the production team with maintenance, clean-up, yard work, warehouse tasks, utilities, material handling, and other production-related activities.
  • Handle assigned tasks in a repetitive and sequential order to complete work efficiently and accurately.
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of debris at all times.
  • Use required safety and security gear at all times and follow all safety regulations and procedures.
  • Report any unsafe conditions or defective equipment to the supervisor immediately.
  • Clean machinery and conveyors during downtime, maintain the surrounding area, and keep equipment free from debris.
  • Clean floors and pick up reusable scrap for salvage to support recycling and waste reduction.
  • Transport trash and debris away from production areas to maintain a safe and efficient workspace.
  • Keep pallets neat, orderly, and properly stacked to support safe material handling.
  • Operate machinery and equipment as trained and instructed, strictly following safety guidelines.
  • Assist the lead operator in preparing for shift production, including setting up machines and materials.
  • Work closely with the lead operator to become knowledgeable about the mechanics and operation of the machines you assist.
  • Operate a variety of hand tools safely and effectively as required for production and maintenance tasks.
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of trucks, ensuring materials are handled safely and efficiently.
  • Assist in completing shipping and receiving documents accurately to support inventory and logistics processes.
  • Package and label products properly to meet quality and customer requirements.
  • Handle stockpiles of materials and products in a safe and organized manner.
  • Verify loads leaving the premises to ensure accuracy and compliance with shipping requirements.
  • Maintain, verify, and count product inventory to support accurate stock levels.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job as assigned on a temporary or permanent basis.
  • Lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds as part of daily duties.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints.
  • Experience in concrete, construction, or industrial labor environments.
  • Experience in production, assembly, or precast operations.
  • Ability to work safely in an industrial environment and follow safety regulations.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Experience handling steel forms and rebar.
  • Ability to operate machinery and equipment according to training and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to use a variety of hand tools effectively.
  • Attention to detail in packaging, labeling, and verifying loads.
  • Basic understanding of shipping and receiving processes and documentation.
  • Ability to maintain clean and orderly work areas, including pallets, floors, and equipment.
  • Reliability in performing repetitive and sequential tasks consistently.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Industrial work experience in concrete or precast environments is highly preferred.
  • Experience with precast concrete manufacturing processes.
  • Background in companies specializing in concrete or precast products is a plus.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced industrial setting with ongoing production.
  • Ability to learn machine mechanics and operations under the guidance of a lead operator.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to perform a variety of tasks as needed.
  • Commitment to following all workplace safety standards and procedures.

Work Environment

The role is based in an industrial manufacturing environment focused on precast concrete, polymer concrete, and plastic products. Employees work around heavy equipment, machinery, and production lines, and must adhere to strict safety standards. Steel-toe shoes are required, and attire should be appropriate for an industrial setting and compliant with all safety guidelines. The work involves physical activity, including lifting up to 50 pounds, handling materials, and spending significant time on the production floor in a busy, hands-on environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rehoboth, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
