Position Overview
As a CNC Machinist, you will set up and operate CNC horizontal machining centers according to engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
Key Responsibilities
What You Bring (Core Competencies)
- Strong technical knowledge of horizontal machining operations and best practices.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and GD&T.
- Skilled in using precision measurement tools for verifying dimensions.
- Ability to independently diagnose and solve machining problems.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative team approach.
- Flexibility to adapt in a fast-paced, high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- 2+ years of experience operating CNC horizontal machining centers.
- Ability to set up, operate, and make minor program edits.
- Familiarity with machining plastics and aluminum materials.
- Basic computer literacy for documentation and data entry.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a CNC machining certificate program or formal apprenticeship.
- 5+ years of CNC horizontal machining experience, preferably in a custom manufacturing environment.
- Experience with large, complex part machining.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality standards and processes.
- Familiarity with advanced machining strategies and tooling optimization.
Work Environmental & Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods (8+ hours).
- Regularly lift and maneuver parts/materials up to 25 pounds.
- Fine motor skills and manual dexterity to handle small components and tools.
- The ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, shoes, gloves, and hearing protection.
- Work in a manufacturing environment exposed to moderate noise, temperature changes, and machining oils.
