Enforces criminal, motor vehicle, and other applicable laws to protect the public, maintain law and order, prevent and investigate crimes, apprehend suspects, and support the prosecution of law violators.
Key Responsibilities
- Enforce criminal, motor vehicle, and applicable state laws.
- Protect public safety and maintain law and order.
- Detect, prevent, and investigate criminal activity.
- Apprehend suspects and violators.
- Respond to incidents and emergencies.
- Conduct investigations and gather information and evidence.
- Prepare reports and documentation related to law enforcement activities.
- Support legal proceedings and prosecution of violations.
- Perform physically demanding duties and maintain readiness for emergency situations.
- Comply with required training, testing, background, medical, and fitness standards.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree or 60 college credits, preferably in Criminal Justice, with no prior experience; or
- High school diploma/equivalency plus qualifying experience through certified police service and/or honorable military service.
- Valid driver's license.
- Must meet required age and citizenship requirements.
- Must pass physical agility, written, interview, background, psychological, medical, and other required examinations.
- Must meet required vision and hearing standards.
- Must maintain eligibility for law enforcement appointment.
