SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Statement of Purpose:

Service technician is responsible for providing technical repair and service to groomers on and off site. These professionals may install and service a wide range of hardware. Service technicians may work on all equipment that Track Inc is affiliated with to be maintained or repaired. Their responsibilities include diagnostic review, repair and replacement of parts as well as the replacement and installation of equipment.

Qualified service technicians are required to ensure that the hardware they are responsible for servicing or repairing is kept in good working order and is correctly diagnosed if any problems arise. They should also be able to repair, replace or install complex machinery and devices in their specific area of competence, which include but are not limited to automotive, vehicle engineering-related or computer-related.

To efficiently service, maintain and repair new and used customer and company owned equipment in the shop and on the road.

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:

• Service and repair equipment as assigned by service manager

• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections as required

• Keep accurate, easy to read records of daily work performed

• Maintain shop tools, equipment, and vehicles

• Suggest additional repairs or service recommendations to service manager

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

• Travel to customer locations for on-the-road service and repair

• Take and fill parts orders when needed

• Demonstrate to customers the proper vehicle operation and proper maintenance techniques and practices to customers

• Ability to work overtime during winter months

• Must work closely with and as needed assist the Parts department in preparing orders and consulting customers on their specific needs

Non-Essential Functions:

• Participate in company functions, programs, sales or service initiatives, etc.

• Perform other duties as assigned

• Attending annual schooling for specific vehicles


Job Requirements:

• Strong mechanical aptitude – with an ability to troubleshoot problems

• Must possess basic SAE and Metric hand tools and toolbox

• Hydraulic, Hydrostatic experience preferred

• Welding experience preferred

• Be able to lift 50-75 lbs.

• Forklift operation/experience

• Basic computer skills required

• Willing to travel and work weekends

• Clean driving record


A service technician needs to have practical work experience in the field in which they’re installing and maintaining equipment for clients. For technicians working with electrical installations, experience as apprentices. Having worked previously as an auto mechanic, plumber, construction supervisor, handyman or electrician can also be an excellent experience for a service technician career.
