Location: Laconia, NH (Main Office)
POSITION OVERVIEW:
This position’s primary responsibility is serving as a Wealth Advisor for Wealth Management clients. Execute investment activities in accounts as they become assigned. Contributes to the overall investment strategy of the department with a focus on Fixed Income Markets and Strategy to help develop our fixed income investment options. Serves on the Wealth Management Department’s Investment Strategy Committee with responsibility for conducting our Fixed Income Strategy meeting monthly. Works closely with the Executive Management Team on the bank’s investment portfolio and serves on the Asset Liability Committee. Provides a key role in research, reporting and trading activities for the BNH Investment portfolio and overall, Wealth Management Portfolios. Build strong, professional relationships with existing and prospective clients through providing quality service and becoming a trusted resource for clients
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: (essential functions are in bold type)
- Serves as a member of the Investment Strategy Committee and contributes to the overall research activities of the department. Assists in monitoring news flow on positions either owned or under consideration.
- Serves as primary Fixed Income strategist for Wealth Management and BNH Executive Management. Understands credit rating requirements and coordinates with external resources to match bank and department needs. Creates and maintains processes for discovering and communicating changes in companies’ credit ratings and overall health. Pre-trade analysis of potential purchases for bank’s investment portfolio. Interface with our Fixed Income Broker to coordinate and develop our investment parameters for Fixed Income Portfolios using this investment process.
- Establishes and maintains strong on-going relationships with clients as assigned, providing status of investment holdings and recommending changes to meet client objectives: income enhancement, capital appreciation, tax advantages, etc.
- Assists in preparation of trade programs including trade entry into portfolio management systems. Monitors cash balances and bond maturities/calls and flags those requiring attention.
- Assists in screening and monitoring of mutual funds used as department investment vehicles for both individual clients as well as corporate 401k clients. Coordinates with departmental operations personnel as needed.
- Interfaces with multiple vendors to ensure data integrity and timeliness. Coordinate with other departmental personnel on presentation materials.
- Active in the community promoting BNH Wealth Management services, including media communications and educational forums to enhance business and the reputation of Wealth Management Services department.
- Assist in preparing new business proposals and participate in new business presentations as needed
- Work with Senior Wealth Management Officer, Executive Management, and Finance Teams to provide:
- Reporting for ALCO and other board material as required. Support Finance with investment portfolio related audit questions including detailed rating change report.
- Investment Research on current and new investment options, using broker and third-party research relationships, including suggested course of action in the case of credits under stress. Pre-trade analysis of potential debt securities including suggested course of action on which to purchase or avoid.
- Support the trading and execution of approved investment strategies with current broker relationships, using them as well as a potential resource for strategy ideas.
- Attend Asset Liability Committee meetings monthly providing input and sharing investment related research and/or reporting as needed.
- Training and Education: Actively participate in bank training sessions to enhance individual product and service knowledge, understanding of policies and procedures, computer equipment skills and understanding of federal and state regulations and compliance issues.
- Complies with the Bank Secrecy Act (31 CFR 103) which also includes components of 12 CFR 326 Subpart B and the 12 CFR 353 and OFAC regulations.
DETAILS OF BNH INVESTMENT PORTFOLIO RESPONSIBILITY: (essential functions are in bold type)

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-7 years of experience working in a detail-oriented environment in a bank or related company position of similar duties and responsibilities.
- Bachelor’s degree (work towards CFA designation or already have obtained)
- An understanding of general economic principles and their impact in our economy today.
- An understanding of the function and mechanics of the various U.S. securities markets.
- An understanding of accounting principles and their implementation in the annual reports of various companies as well as other financial reports.
- An understanding of the various theories of portfolio management and tailoring these theories to meet specific client objectives.
- Understanding of trust and tax law a plus.
- Experience to include trust account servicing, asset management, fiduciary regulations and laws, sales and negotiation skills.
- Skills in common courtesy, communications, mathematics, organization, personal computers, planning and problem resolution.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record, as well as a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
