Accounting & Finance Leader

Up to $45/hr depending on experience
Boston - Hybrid, 2 days per week on-site and 3 days per week remote
Position Overview
We are seeking an Accounting & Finance leader to support our client’s day-to-day financial operations. This role will be the sole accounting/finance person in-house, partnering with the outside resources currently handling these responsibilities. This person is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, grant accounting, supporting reporting processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. This hire will be a thought leader, collaborating with executive leadership to ensure top profitability for the organization.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including accruals and adjustments
- Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules
- Support contract and funding-related reporting requirements
- Track and manage financial data across multiple funding sources
- Maintain documentation for financial transactions and expenditures
- Assist with audit preparation, including reconciliations and supporting documentation
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and procedures
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes
- Partner with internal teams to review financial data and ensure proper allocation of expenses
- Perform additional accounting duties and special projects as needed
- Collaborate with executive leadership in diversification initiatives

- Nonprofit diversification and capacity building enterprises
- Assess financial viability, ROI and scalability of proposed diversification ventures and initiatives
- Translate complex financial data into actionable narratives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- 2+ years of experience with federal and state grants management
