Job Description

Overview: Compassion Ambassador Seacoast Dementia Hub Volunteer Program The RiverWoods Group is currently adding to our Volunteer team for the New Seacoast Dementia Hub! The Seacoast Dementia Hub Volunteer Program is dedicated to building a compassionate, well-trained, and dependable network of volunteers committed to supporting caregivers and individuals affected by dementia. Through education, emotional connection, and community engagement, our volunteers play a vital role in enhancing quality of life, reducing caregiver isolation, and fostering a more informed and understanding community. We strive to empower volunteers with the knowledge, empathy, and practical tools needed to provide meaningful assistance whether through direct support, advocacy, outreach, or educational initiatives. Together, we aim to create a supportive environment where caregivers and families feel valued, connected, and confident in navigating the challenges of dementia care. Compassion Ambassador volunteers provide one-on-one connection, guidance, and emotional support to caregivers navigating the challenges of dementia care. Volunteers serve as compassionate peers—listening, encouraging, and sharing practical insights to help caregivers feel less alone. This role is ideal for individuals with lived experience in caregiving or a background in dementia care who want to make a meaningful difference in their community. Responsibilities:

  • Offer one-on-one peer support to caregivers through regular check-ins.
  • Provide guidance, emotional support, and practical advice based on experience and training, while maintaining healthy boundaries.
  • Participate in monthly mentor check-ins and peer learning sessions with fellow volunteers.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold the Hub’s values of compassion, respect, and inclusion.
  • Refer caregivers to appropriate community resources when needed.
  • Commitment: 2–4 hours per week

Qualifications:

All volunteers must meet the following criteria:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in dementia care or caregiving. Combination of both preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, empathy, and emotional intelligence.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a willingness to complete training.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect boundaries.
  • Preferred: Experience working with older adults, trauma-informed care, or peer support.
