Job Title: Delivery Dispatch Manager Reports To: Driver Operations Manager

Community Servings' mission is to actively engage the community to provide medically tailored, nutritious, scratch-made meals to chronically and critically ill individuals and their families. We are a dynamic and fast-growing agency at the forefront of the "Food is Medicine" field, providing over 1M medically tailored meals annually to clients and their families experiencing illness and food insecurity in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In addition, our work strongly focuses on supporting the regional local food system, delivering high-quality nutrition education to the community, and hosting an on-site food-service workforce development program.

Summary: The Delivery Dispatcher primary responsibility is for coordinating route schedules, manage communication with clients and staff, along with assisting Delivery Operation Manager in managing the delivery team staff members. Also periodically transporting food and materials from our Jamaica Plain location to our Mansfield. The schedule for this shift is currently 6:30am to 3:00pm, and it is subject to change.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) per department standards.
  • Scheduling and dispatching drivers to appropriate locations according to predetermined schedules.
  • Relaying delivery information between clients and staff.
  • Utilize MS Teams, Email, Phone and Text messages to contact employees and clients about delivery information.
  • Update client delivery instructions and delivery statuses.
  • Prepare daily work schedules.
  • Speak with clients and staff to resolve problems.
  • Proficient with mapping software, route optimization and safe driving standards.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proactively address problems and suggest solutions with management.
  • Works with Delivery Operations Manager to ensure that daily deliveries are completed and maintains the safety of the vehicles and drivers.
  • Meet the needs and reasonable requests from the Delivery Operations or Leadership overseeing the Delivery Department

Qualifications


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Experience in loading, map reading and food delivery.
  • Experience with safety and food handling sanitation standards.
  • Skill in interpersonal relations for effective communication with a multi-cultural client and volunteer population.
  • Skill in the effective use of English language to read and express ideas/facts orally and in writing.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers.
  • Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License and a clean driving history
  • Able to successfully pass a Criminal Offender Records Inquiry (CORI) Background Check
  • Ability to read and interpret a map.
  • Experience with driving a vehicle of 10,000 lbs. and a box truck (20ft. or greater)
  • Bi-lingual speaking ability (e.g. Spanish) is a plus.
  • Experience in delivery and strong customer service skills.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED

Experience

  • One to three years’ experience driving a 10,000 lb. van, along with experience in driving a box truck (20ft or greater)
  • Experience in a supervisory or leadership role is preferred

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Assist Delivery Operation Manger in managing delivery team members in Jamaica Plain.

This position requires an individual to have the ability to lift up to a maximum of 45 lbs., bending and standing for long periods of time, and climbing up multiple flights of stairs carrying prepared meals and other food products weighing up to 40 lbs.
