PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:

Responsible for the supervision of daily manufacturing operations for assigned units. Duties include: scheduling production, monitoring productivity, resolving problems, supervision of personnel, and other similar duties pertaining to manufacturing operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee, direct, and coordinate the daily manufacturing and/or sub-assembly operations as assigned. Develop daily/weekly production schedules. Allocate available personnel to accomplish both routine work and high priority jobs.
  • Monitor production, productivity (through put), and quality and ensure established standards are maintained. Respond to operational and/or technical problems and resolve.
  • Analyze operations, processes, procedures, etc. and make recommendations to appropriate personnel to maximize efficiency.
  • Administer the daily functioning of assigned units. Implement and ensure proper methods and procedures are employed. Enforce safety rules and regulations and ensure required safety equipment is utilized.
  • Monitor employee time and attendance records. Detect trends in attendance and take required actions within the limits of established policy and/or contract provisions.
  • Handle disciplinary situations according to established policy. Ensure proper training, cross-training and/or re-training of personnel.
  • Maintain a working liaison with other departments. Confer with engineering personnel regarding new products, product modifications, process changes, etc. Work with maintenance personnel to schedule maintenance or repair work. Confer with QA and/or purchasing personnel of parts and materials problems.
  • Hire, train, assign and check the work of subordinates as to company policy and procedures, methods and practices, standards of performance and other matters affecting their work. Detect substandard performance and take appropriate corrective actions. Evaluate performance of subordinates and confer with supervisor on personnel or other matters affecting subordinates.
  • Perform other similar duties as required by responsibility or necessity or as requested by supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience; manufacturing experience a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing functions involves a thorough trades knowledge and the application of basic theory, equal to 2 years college.
