This role combines forklift operation with order picking and general material handling in a clean, modern warehouse environment. You will safely operate forklifts and pallet jacks to move raw materials and finished goods, retrieve products stored up to two to three floors high, and support daily warehouse operations through packing, loading, unloading, and inventory-related tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts safely and responsibly to move raw materials and shipping goods around the manufacturing and warehouse floors.
  • Use a ride-along pallet jack and other warehouse equipment to transport products and materials as needed.
  • Retrieve product stored at heights of up to two to three floors using appropriate equipment and safe operating practices.
  • Load and unload freight and trailers, ensuring products are handled carefully and placed in the correct locations.
  • Pick, select, and stage orders accurately according to manifests, work orders, or other documentation.
  • Pack screws, bolts, fasteners, and other products securely for shipment or storage.
  • Wrap pallets manually and use a wrapping machine where needed to ensure loads are stable and secure.
  • Assist with inventory tasks, including working with RF scanners or scan guns and referencing manifests and work orders when required.
  • Handle material movement and general warehouse duties such as stacking, organizing, and labeling products.
  • Operate forklifts in close quarters while following all safety practices and site procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, contributing to the overall cleanliness of the warehouse.
  • Follow company attendance expectations and arrive on time, prepared to work scheduled shifts.
  • Perform other warehouse tasks as needed to support smooth and efficient operations.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of forklift operator experience within the past 2 years.
  • At least 1 year of material handling experience.
  • Experience operating a forklift in close quarters and in a warehouse environment.
  • Ability to operate a ride-along pallet jack safely and effectively.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and procedures when operating a forklift and other warehouse equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Experience loading and unloading freight and trailers.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance history with previous employers.
  • Comfort working at heights when retrieving products stored up to two to three floors high.
  • Ability to perform order picking, selecting, and packing tasks accurately.
  • Basic familiarity with inventory processes and working off manifests and work orders.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience using RF scanners or scan guns for picking, inventory, or order processing.
  • Experience working with inventory systems, including ERP or QDOC, is ideal.
  • Experience using a wrapping machine to secure pallets.
  • Background in packing screws, bolts, fasteners, or similar small components.
  • Experience with stand-up forklift operation.
  • Comfort working with wrapped pallets and ensuring load stability.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a warehouse team.

Work Environment

This position is based in a newer, very clean warehouse and manufacturing facility. You will work Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The role involves operating forklifts approximately 40–60% of the time, with the remaining 40–60% spent on tasks such as picking, packing, loading, unloading, and other warehouse duties. You will operate forklifts in close quarters and may retrieve products stored up to two to three floors high. Equipment used includes forklifts, ride-along pallet jacks, wrapping machines, and RF scanners or scan guns, along with ERP or related systems where applicable. The environment is safety-focused and organized, with clear expectations for reliable attendance and adherence to safe operating practices.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Agawam, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
