Senior Electrical Engineer
Job Description
Job DescriptionSenior Electrical Engineer - Own Hyperscale Power from Grid to Rack
Wilmington, MA
Lead the electrical backbone of mission critical data centers
You design the power systems that can’t fail. Hyperscale campuses, mission critical infrastructure, and aggressive schedules are where you do your best work.
In this role, you’ll own electrical design for complex data center programs from concept through construction, setting the architecture, driving standards, and being the technical voice clients trust.
You’ll shape repeatable, high-performance solutions across multiple sites and phases, while mentoring engineers and elevating quality across the program.
If you’ve led MV/LV distribution and mission critical infrastructure for data centers, we want to talk to you.
What You'll Work On
You’ll be the senior electrical lead on large mission critical and hyperscale data center work, including:
- End-to-end electrical systems for hyperscale and mission critical data centers
- MV/LV power distribution architecture and documentation
- Utility service coordination and protection strategies
- Mission critical infrastructure: UPS, generators, switchgear, transfer schemes
- Grounding, bonding, and lighting systems
- Short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies
- Interdisciplinary coordination across MEP/FP, structural, architectural, and BIM/VDC
- Program-level templates, standards, and QA/QC for repeatable delivery
You’ll work within a BIM/VDC environment using tools like Revit and AutoCAD, and support power studies with platforms such as SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower.
The core challenge: deliver resilient, constructable power systems at hyperscale speed, without compromising safety or quality.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading electrical design for mission critical and hyperscale data center projects from programming/basis of design through construction documents and construction administration
- Developing power system architecture, single-line diagrams, load summaries, equipment schedules, and room layouts for MV/LV distribution
- Designing and coordinating systems including utility service, transformers, switchgear/switchboards, UPS, generators, ATS/STS, PDUs/RPPs, grounding/bonding, and lighting
- Coordinating with utilities on service requirements, fault duty, metering, protection, and energization sequencing
- Directing and/or reviewing short circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash studies and integrating results into the design
- Driving interdisciplinary coordination with mechanical, controls, fire protection, structural/architectural, and BIM/VDC teams to resolve clearances, routing, constructability, and phasing
- Performing senior-level QA/QC reviews to ensure code compliance, client standards alignment, and consistent deliverable quality
- Engaging with clients and contractors through design reviews, OAC meetings, RFIs and submittals, field observations, and technical issue resolution
- Mentoring designers and engineers and supporting development of details, templates, and repeatable standards
- Contributing to pursuits and scoping with clear electrical narratives, assumptions, and effort estimates
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- 8+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience with significant mission critical/data center delivery; hyperscale experience strongly preferred
- Proven ability to lead projects and produce coordinated construction documents (SD/DD/CD) in a multi-discipline environment
- Strong working knowledge of NEC/NFPA 70 and familiarity with electrical safety concepts and NFPA 70E principles
- Experience designing MV/LV power distribution and mission critical infrastructure including UPS, generators, switchgear, and transfer schemes
- Proficiency with Revit and/or AutoCAD and comfort working in a BIM/VDC workflow
- Strong communication skills and ability to lead technical discussions with clients, utilities, and contractors
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed (typically 10–25%)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within a defined period preferred
- Experience with hyperscale client standards, modular design, fast-track delivery, and commissioning coordination preferred
The Experience That Will Really Get Our Attention
You’ve been the go-to electrical lead on large data center or mission critical programs, not just one-off projects. You understand hyperscale client standards, tier/resiliency concepts, and how to build modular, repeatable designs that can scale across a campus.
You’re comfortable in the field and at the table — talking with utilities about fault duty and energization, supporting commissioning, and working through phasing and constructability with GCs and ECs. You’ve used power system analysis tools and you know how to turn study results into practical, buildable designs.
High-signal experience: MV distribution ● LV distribution systems ● UPS systems ● Generators ● Switchgear/switchboards ● ATS/STS schemes ● PDUs/RPPs ● NEC ● NFPA 70 ● NFPA 70E ● Revit ● AutoCAD ● BIM/VDC workflows ● SKM ● ETAP ● EasyPower ● TIA-942 ● Mission critical/data centers ● Fast-track / design-assist delivery ● Commissioning coordination
Why This Opportunity?
This is a chance to own technical delivery for marquee mission critical programs and see your designs built at scale, across full data center campuses and expansions.
You’ll have a real voice in how program standards, templates, and QA/QC practices are shaped — and how they’re applied across multiple projects.
You’ll mentor and grow a team around you while working in an environment that backs that growth with structured training, professional development support (including FE/PE exam support), and clear paths to leadership.
On top of competitive pay and comprehensive benefits, you’ll have access to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan, a defined Path to Partnership, a student debt repayment program, and flexible hybrid work schedules that support balance and autonomy.
Important Requirements
Ability to travel to project sites as needed (typically 10–25%).
Interested?
If you’re ready to lead hyperscale and mission critical electrical design and want a seat at the table as these programs grow, let’s get a conversation going.
