PDS Tech is partnering with a leading manufacturer of electrical and utility solutions, to hire an experienced Automation Controls Technician. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on technician who enjoys building, troubleshooting, and bringing custom automation equipment to life.
You’ll work closely with engineers and technicians to assemble, wire, plumb, test, troubleshoot, and repair sophisticated automation systems incorporating robotics, lasers, indexers, feeders, packaging systems, machining, welding, forming, pressing, and more.

2nd shift: Mondy–Friday, 3:00 PM –11:30 PM

5th Shift: Friday–Sunday, 6:00 PM–6:00 AM | 36 hours/week
Pay: $22.89–$47.78/hour + 12% shift differential

What You’ll Do
-
Work alongside automation engineers and technicians to build custom automation equipment.

Interpret SolidWorks models, engineering drawings, sketches, specifications, and layouts.

Organize materials and components for assigned automation projects.

Calculate dimensions and determine assembly methods.
-
Verify dimensions, alignments, clearances, and conformance to specifications.

Fit and assemble components into complete assemblies and mechanisms.

Wire and plumb machines under the guidance of engineers and senior technicians.

Set up, use, and troubleshoot basic automation electronics, including sensors and VFDs.

Assist with testing, troubleshooting, and repairing automation equipment.

Operate or assist with machine tools such as lathes, mills, and welding equipment.

Participate in training related to electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, robotics, programming, and machine maintenance.
What We’re Looking For
-
High school diploma or equivalent required.
-
5+ years of experience in a mechanic, manufacturing, machinist, or similar hands-on environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting skills.

Experience with equipment repair, machining, fabrication, assembly, or related mechanical work.

Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and measurements.

Basic electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic knowledge is a plus.

Experience with welding or machine tools is preferred.

Experience with PLCs, robotics, or automation is a plus.

An Associate Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology is preferred.

Hands-on experience working on vehicles, farms, homes, machinery, or similar equipment is highly valued.

Willingness to learn new programming languages and automation technologies.
Physical & Work Environment

Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Ability to perform repetitive tasks.

Work environment includes constant noise and dust.

Safety shoes and safety glasses are required for the plant tour/interview and while working on the production floor.

Pay Details: $22.89 to $47.78 per hour
