Job DescriptionAbout the Role:Children's Village Inc. in Cambridge, MA is looking for a ServSafe-certified, passionate, and dedicated Cook to join our team! In this role, you'll play a vital part in nourishing the children and staff we serve by preparing wholesome, delicious meals in a warm and caring environment. Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook nutritious, high-quality meals for children and staff daily
- Follow established menus, recipes, and portion guidelines to ensure consistency
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen in compliance with food safety standards
- Monitor food inventory, assist with ordering supplies, and minimize waste
- Accommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, and special nutritional needs
- Assist with meal planning and menu development as needed
- Collaborate with kitchen and program staff to ensure smooth meal service
Requirements:
- Prior experience as a cook, food service worker, or in a commercial kitchen setting
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation practices, and health code regulations
- ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Ability to prepare meals for large groups efficiently and on schedule
- Experience accommodating dietary restrictions, allergies, and special meal plans
- Reliable, organized, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Compassionate, team-oriented attitude with a passion for serving children and families
