Role Description The Sports Reporter is an on-site role based in Nantucket, MA. You must have experience with digital/weekly reporting, strong digital/social media skills and a solid understanding of fall, winter and spring school sports. You must also be at ease attending and reporting on games and events, interviewing coaches and players and writing quickly and accurately on deadline.

The job entails providing daily local sports coverage for print and digital platforms including text, audio and video and social media. The right candidate will be able to produce content that varies from game coverage to sports feature writing. Must have a valid driver’s license. The role may also involve live coverage, social media updates, and occasional general assignment reporting as needed.

Qualifications

- Strong sports journalism capabilities, including Sports Writing and News Writing skills.
- Solid reporting abilities, with experience in Reporting and general Writing for print and digital formats.
- Knowledge of seasonal high school sports, with the ability to translate game action into compelling stories.
- Ability to work on-site in Nantucket, MA, including evenings and weekends as sports schedules require.
- Excellent interviewing, research, and fact-checking skills, with a commitment to accuracy and unbiased coverage.
- Proficiency in AP style and basic editing, plus familiarity with digital publishing and social media platforms.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to attend games and events across the island.
