Job Purpose

STAG Industrial, Inc. (NYSE: STAG) is a real estate investment trust focused on the acquisition and operation of industrial properties in 41 states. The company has approximately 600 industrial properties in its portfolio. The Manager of Financial Reporting is responsible for assessing accounting implications on acquisition transactions (ASC 805), lease transactions (including straight-line rent), and preparing periodic financial statements (Forms 10-Q and 10-K) required for external reporting in compliance with SEC and GAAP reporting regulations and guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review accounting summaries prepared by the Financial Reporting Accountant for new/renewal leases and lease termination agreements. Ensure the appropriate application of GAAP for each transaction, including straight-line rent.
  • Review third party purchase price allocation reports for acquisitions to ensure accuracy and compliance under ASC 805. Coordinate with third party PPA preparer and Company analysts to ensure timely delivery of reports.
  • Prepare the 10-Q and 10-K SEC filings and related tie-out binder. Review various underlying workpapers prepared by the Financial Reporting Accountant for the SEC filings.
  • Prepare quarterly non-GAAP statements, review certain items within quarterly supplemental and earnings documents.
  • Work directly with the Construction team to track their significant capital projects (developments, re-developments, etc.) to ensure appropriate accounting for costs capitalization, depreciation, and revenue recognition.
  • Review and reconcile straight-line rent for the entire portfolio.
  • Review and tag new disclosures for quarterly XBRL. Periodically review all XBRL data to ensure consistency with peers.
  • Perform technical accounting research as needed.
  • Assist with internal controls program (SOX 404) as needed.
  • Prepare the Automated Disclosure Checklists for public filings.
  • Supervise and mentor financial reporting accountant.
  • Identify innovative approaches to improve reporting efficiencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required. CPA preferred.
  • 4-6 years of public accounting experience required (or comparable industry experience). Big 4 experience preferred.
  • Real estate industry and SEC reporting knowledge required.
  • Excellent computer skills with advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Experience with MRI and/or Workiva preferred, but not necessary.
  • Organizational skills with ability to set priorities, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Proven experience in a corporate management role, with a track record of leading successful teams and projects.
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Adaptable to changing demands.

Working Conditions

Position does not require special working conditions. Employee works in an office setting utilizing a laptop provided by company.

The Manager of Financial Reporting has one (1) Financial Reporting Accountant directly reporting to them.
