Direct Counsel is representing an Am Law 100 firm seeking a junior-level associate to join its nationally recognized Distressed High-Yield Bond Workout (DHYBOW) practice within the Restructuring & Bankruptcy group. This team represents secured lenders, bondholder groups, and trustees in high-stakes matters involving distressed municipal and tax-exempt debt across the country.
Key Responsibilities:

Support the representation of secured creditors, bondholders, and trustees in complex bankruptcy, receivership, and restructuring matters.

Assist in court appearances, litigation, negotiations, and asset recovery strategies.

Work on high-yield tax-exempt bond workouts and related distressed asset transactions.

Interact with clients, including institutional investors and bond trustees, across a variety of market sectors.

Collaborate with a national team of restructuring attorneys in offices across the U.S.

Some travel is required due to the national scope of work.
Requirements:

1–3 years of experience in bankruptcy law, preferably representing secured lenders.

Litigation experience in bankruptcy or receivership courts preferred.

Exposure to or interest in the high-yield municipal bond market is a plus.

Excellent academic credentials and strong legal writing and analytical skills.

Licensed to practice law in Massachusetts or eligible for admission.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively on complex legal matters.
