TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE II, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research, to work closely with the Core Leader and technical team in the Flow Cytometry Core Facility. The primary duties will be the operation and maintenance (including daily QC) of flow cytometer analyzers and sorters, and training investigators in their proper use. Will also engage in one-on-one interactions with researchers to design experiments, including multicolor panel design, troubleshooting instrumentation, and supporting data analysis; serve as a primary resource for researchers on research techniques, taking responsibility for complex tasks without direct supervision; advise on experimental design and applicability; analyze and interpret widely varying situations; utilize approaches based on deep understanding of policies, precedents, past practices and scientific knowledge to resolve issues; and perform related duties as needed, including work performed at lower levels as it relates to the support and operation of the facility. REQUIRED: a B.S. in a biological science; four years’ specialized lab experience (which may include experience gained as an undergraduate); strong instrumentation skills; excellent customer service, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team; attention to detail; and an awareness of the critical aspects of laboratory and chemical safety and the ability to follow procedures and maintain a safe work environment. Demonstrated experience with BD Fortessa analyzers and FACSAria IIu high-speed sorter strongly preferred.
